Flashball

Ahead of the game and the curve.

Let’s go back to the future with one of the first truly visionary interactive video games.

Flashball was electronic ping pong, where the “ball” was a flash of light that beamed back and forth across the table and was cut by paddles coming out of portals.

Crazy good. Crazy expensive. Zambrelli knew it made for a neo-gladiator epic that packed drama into 45secs and kept the target on the edge of their arena seats.

The ahead-of-the-curve part: The actor Zambrelli cast as the winning competitor was a 25-year-old unknown kid from Missouri, Brad Pitt. It was his first big commercial break, leading to his first big movie, Thelma and Louise.
